This is the first episode of my rebranded Instagram Live Video series (formerly known as FWG Chat and now known as Fasting and Beyond) and we kicked it off with a bang!! I learned so much from talking with Darryl Edwards (@fitnessexplorer on Instagram) on the importance of exercise, movement and physical activity in our lives! Some of the highlights of our discussion (originally aired on Instagram on July 5, 2019) include:
- We explained what TOFI (Thin on the Outside Fat on the Inside) means.
- Darryl explained that unless you are doing 60 minutes of moderate activity every day, you aren’t making up for the 6 to 8 hours of sedentary living (sitting at a desk at work, etc.).
- We all should strive for at least 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity training and two days of resistance training for good health — you can’t have one without the other.
- Darryl also shared some tips with us on making movement fun!
- At no point in history have we as humans thrived on artificial foods.
- At no point in history have we as humans thrived on a sedentary lifestyle.
Darryl also had me rethink my longstanding position on focusing more on nutrition than exercising for losing weight. He helped me understand that they are both equally important for weight loss because there are some things that you can get from exercise that you will never get from eating right. Also, in certain situations, it could be helpful for certain people to focus a little more on exercise than nutrition.
