As some of you know, I am a proud byproduct of Battle Creek, MI (aka Cereal City USA), and Battle Creek Central High School (class of 2000)! The life lessons and experiences I received at BCC helped shape who I am as a doctor, a wife, and a mother. I was honored to be inducted into the Battle Creek Central Hall of Fame in December 2019!
I was recently profiled by Casey Bess as a part of an Instagram series that he shares with his students on notable BCC alumni. Casey is a teacher and assistant football coach at Battle Creek Central and has won many awards for the amazing things he is doing for his students and the community. Casey and I grew up together. He was in the same graduating class as my little brother — they are class of 2004. Be sure to follow him on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/modo.inc2019/.
Casey and I talked about my time at Battle Creek Central and also went a little bit into my life after high school. I talked about the many fulfilling career options for students and professionals who are interested in getting into the medical field but don’t necessarily want to be a doctor. I also shared some advice that I like to give to high school students. Finally, I gave my answer to what it means to embody Bearcat Pride. Check out this fun interview and Go Bearcats!
And, yes, I did record this on my birthday (May 4, 2020)! 😊
