FASTING AND BEYOND

FASTING AND BEYOND | EPISODE 11 | KETO Q&A WITH MARY ROBERTS

If you name any popular diet over the last 30 years, the chances are that Mary Roberts has tried it. Whether it was Richard Simmons’ Deal-A-Meal, Figurine Bars, Slim-Fast, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, or Nutrisystem, Mary had done them all. Some diets were more successful than others, but ultimately she wasn’t able to keep the weight off on any of them. Mary was overweight and suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, snoring, and allergies. She even received treatment for an eating disorder. It wasn’t until she was introduced to the ketogenic diet by a good friend of hers that she was finally able to find something that she could maintain. Keto was the first diet she tried where she actually felt satisfied and didn’t always feel hungry! Mary has now been keto for over six years. She is no longer overweight and her health issues are all under control. She shares her inspiring story with me on the latest episode of Fasting and Beyond (originally aired on April 29, 2020). She also answers some great follower questions. Some of the questions she answers include:

  • 16:10 – Does she eat carbs sometimes, given that she’s keto?
  • 23:08 – How does she get antioxidants if she eats little plants?
  • 29:56 – She addresses the myth that eating meat is damaging to her body.
  • 34:23 – She discusses her experience with digestive problems while on keto.
