THE FASTING DOCTOR VISITS THE THRIVE BITES PODCAST

I had such a blast chatting with Dr. Colin Zhu on his Thrive Bites with The Chef Doc podcast! After I shared my personal journey into intermittent fasting, we covered some of the ins and outs, pros and cons of intermittent fasting and how it can be used as a tool for our general health. At the end of our conversation, I gave three tips for individuals who are interested in fasting but not sure where to begin. These three tips are the following:

  • Use your sleep to your advantage! Remember, the hours you spend asleep at night count toward your fasting time. Additionally, try not to eat after sunset and try not to start eating until the sunrise. Once you get the hang of that, you can stretch your fasting window out longer.
  • Water is your friend, so drink up! While you will certainly consume other fluids, such as plain tea and black coffee, during your fasting window, make sure you stick to mostly water.
  • Keep a journal and note how you have been feeling since you have started intermittent fasting. For example, see if you have been sleeping better or if you have more energy.
